Published on April 25, 2017, Jeff M. Poulin was cited as a policy and advocacy expert in relation to the National Assessment of Education Progressive's (NAEP) in an Ed Week article authored by Jaclyn Zubrzycki.
"It's absolutely essential to have surveys like this," said Jeff Poulin. "But I think it could be broadened." He also noted that the sample of students lacked data that would allow for the achievement of Native American students to be pulled out...Poulin said that while those regional differences weren't surprising, the NAEP finding "speaks to the importance of state education policy for arts education" and is a timely reminder at a time when states are discussing policies and preparing their plans for the Every Student Succeeds Act.
In September 2016, Jeff M. Poulin authored an op-ed which was published in The Hill in recognition of National Arts in Education Week, calling on legislators in Washington, D.C., state capitols, and communities across the country to take action to increase equity of access to arts learning for America’s students.
Published on May 3, 2016, The New York Times author Miranda S. Spivack chronicles the transformative power of the arts as education for students, quoting arts education expert Jeff M. Poulin.
For students intent on a career path in the arts, “Suitland is an exemplar program for what we seek to see in schools all over the country,” said Jeff Poulin…. Yet programs such as Suitland’s, he said, are always at risk in public school systems with tight budgets.
Published in February 2015, Jeff M. Poulin’s work leading the adoption and advocacy for voluntary state arts education standards was featured District Administration magazine.
“Arkansas and Nebraska have adopted versions of the new standards, and 10 more states may soon follow, says Jeff Poulin… Many administrators want robust arts education in their schools, and these standards provide a strong foundation for creating better programs, Poulin adds.”
